Program Topic: Mental Health in the Workplace: Building a Movement-Stigmafree

Nearly 60 million people in the United States face the day-to-day reality of living with a mental illness. NAMI and NAMI Greenville are looking to partner with not only families, but also companies to help educate the public, provide support, and advocate for better services for those in need. The presentation titled “Building a Movement-Stigmafree” has three main goals:

  1. For GSHRM members to understand and learn more about the prevalence of mental health issues and gain perspective of the effects of stigma in the workplace.
  2. Attendees to see the person, not the illness and to seek to understand more about how to accommodate and integrate individuals with mental illness into the workplace .  Also, if someone lives with a mental health condition learning to share a message of hope.
  3. Share a call to action, to get involved, raise awareness and make a difference in our companies and community.
