Emily Watrous, CHRO of Clemson University

Come hear from Clemson University's CHRO, Ms. Emily Watrous, as she discusses her career in HR as well as the current challenges and plans she has for Clemson University. Take a look inside the daily schedule of a CHRO, and understand what it takes to lead the HR function of top public university.

Ms. Emily Watrous leads the Office of Human Resources at Clemson University, which includes 10 directors and an additional 50 human resource team members.  Emily provides operational support for the university's talent acquisition, classification and compensation, benefits, learning and performance, employee relations, HR information technology, customer service, data center, records management, and international employment. 
 
Emily has 22 years of experience with Fortune 150 companies working in human resources, change management, and talent development.  Prior to joining Clemson, Emily was the Chief HR Officer for Southern First Bank. She also worked at Fluor Corporation for 15 years and Bank of America for 5 years in a variety of key human resource roles.  Emily has an undergraduate degree in psychology from Clemson University, and a master’s degree in human resource development from Webster University.
She has a passion for travel and seeing the world. She lived overseas for 8+ years in Europe, Asia, and Africa, most recently in Tianjin, China in 2011.  Emily met her husband, Dave, 23 years ago at Clemson and they have two active daughters. Their family enjoys spending free time on the lake and they are moving to Clemson from Greenville, SC during the summer of 2018. 

 

Getting On Board: A new member "Getting On Board" orientation session will take place at 11:15 a.m. just prior to the meeting for all new members as well as those wanting a refresher on GSHRM and how to get involved.  Contact Kevin Taylor to sign up.

Late Registration & Cancellation Policy:  Late additions will be added to the waiting list and accommodated on a first-come, first served basis.  Cancellations after the deadline date are subject to the meeting fee payment ($25). Please direct changes or questions to admin@greenvillehr.org.
