Greenville Society for Human Resource Management (GSHRM) Wins

Pinnacle Award from SHRM for Exceptional HR Program

We are honored to announce that GSHRM is a Pinnacle Award recipient , given by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) for highly notable contributions to the HR profession, recognizing the development and sustainability of a program educating employers on reliable methods and techniques in successfully hiring individuals with disabilities.

Created in 1991, the Pinnacle Award is the highest achievement SHRM state councils and chapters can attain honoring programs that exceed the standard activities of SHRM affiliates in enhancing the creation of effective HR management. GSHRM was one of 12 human resource organizations from across the country to win the award.

“This was a great collaboration between GSHRM’s Workforce Readiness Committee, Greenville CAN and Able South Carolina representatives that worked hard to bring awareness to hiring individuals with disabilities and the successes for both the person and organization.  It took many passionate people and hours to develop and organize such a successful program.  We’re grateful for the opportunity to partner with others in our community to provide awareness and opportunities.” said Nancy McCartney, GSHRM Chapter President.

Winning programs selected from over 83 applications received a $1,000 prize, sponsored by Paychex Inc. The award was given at SHRM’s annual Volunteer Leaders’ Summit held in Washington D.C and will be presented to the membership at GSHRM’s December 10th evening meeting at the Poinsett Club, recognizing those that have contributed.

“These chapters and state councils embody what it means to be HR leaders,” said Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, president and CEO of SHRM. “They are tackling some of the highest-profile and relevant HR issues today at the local level. Some of this year’s winners included programs on combating the skills shortage, employing untapped talent pools such as veterans and those with mental illness, and raising awareness on handling sexual harassment in the workplace.”
