Transforming Healthcare Together: Partnering with Providers to Actively Manage Healthcare for the Future. As healthcare spending continues to rise across the nation, innovative employers are stepping up to partner with healthcare providers to drive down healthcare costs and improve health outcomes for their employees. Thinking about health care differently, this session will cover the growing trend nationally of companies taking a more active role in managing healthcare for their employees and the impact this can have on finances and employee experience. GSHRM participants will hear firsthand how Bob Jones University and Prisma Health Upstate Network are taking a different approach to drive healthcare transformation in the Upstate with the help of the Care Coordination Institute.

Kevin Taylor, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, sHRBP, is Chief Human Resources Officer at Bob Jones University who, in this role, partners with organizational leaders to develop human capital strategy by providing insight and leadership in a variety of areas including compensation, benefits, payroll and talent acquisition. Prior to his 19 years at BJU, he served as Operations Manager for Alro Steel Corporation in Grand Blanc, MI where he was responsible for plant operations for the Grand Blanc facility.

As an innovative leader and a passionate reader, Kevin seeks to learn and implement new strategies to address the changing needs in HR, focusing especially on healthcare. He has successfully transformed the healthcare model at BJU from reactive disease management to a proactive approach focusing on wellness and preventative care. This transformation has included the development of onsite wellness programs for employees, behavioral economic alignment of employee incentives and the movement from a PPO network approach to an ACO shared risk approach within a Clinically Integrated Network.

Dr. Angelo Sinopoli is the President, CEO and Founder of the Care Coordination Institute (CCI), a unique data analytics and care management company that provides the services, tools, resources and competencies needed to enhance population health strategy and support the success of more than 10,100 providers across South Carolina. He is also Chief Clinical Officer for Prisma Health, where he drives clinical and quality strategy for the organization and is responsible for Prisma Health’s two clinically integrated networks encompassing 3,800 providers and spanning 17 counties.

Beyond state lines, Dr. Sinopoli has been a key leader nationally in advancing population health and value-based care. He helps to drive the transformation of healthcare delivery as a member of the Physician-Focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC) appointed by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), a Guiding Committee member for the CMS Health Care Payment Learning and Action Network (LAN), and as a member of the Board of Directors for America’s Physician Groups. Dr. Sinopoli earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of South Carolina and a MD from the Medical University of South Carolina. He holds a professorship position at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine Greenville and the USC Arnold School of Public Health.
